]Pravetz 8 — a living archive
The Pravetz 8 (Правец 8) family — IMKO-1, IMKO-2, Pravetz 82, 8M, 8A and 8C — were Bulgarian personal computers built from 1980 to the early 1990s and closely compatible with the Apple II. They were the most widespread home and school computers in Bulgaria, and were also made in Tashkent.
This site continues pravec8.gogtel.org, the enthusiast site created by ССТАНЕВ with Krasimir Hristov, Nikola Slavchev, Georgi Raykov and others (2006–2012). Its content is in Bulgarian and is kept word for word; editorial notes are marked separately.
What is here
- Archive — 50 entries: 47 floppy disk images (
.dskin.7z) of Bulgarian and translated software, ROM dumps, character sets and emulator packages. Every file has a SHA-256 checksum, and each disk shows its real DOS 3.3 catalog. - Library — books, technical descriptions, scanned pages, the Robko-01 robot arm manual.
- History and models, photos, Corvus hard disks.
- Emulators: AppleWin (Pravets 82/8M/8A), MAME (prav82, prav8m, prav8c) and Pravetz 82 in your browser (apple2js).
- Terminal — a small simulation of the green screen with a few BASIC commands; games marked * in CATALOG run from their real disk in a Правец 82 emulator (apple2js).
- Search works in Latin script too: try sokoban or pravetz 8m.
Typography
Headings use a font built bit for bit from the Pravetz 8M character generator ROM published on the original site — byte-identical to the dump used by MAME. Body text keeps the original site's Courier New.
Preservation
See За архива (in Bulgarian) for the full migration report: what was verified, what was recovered (most "lost" files had only changed letter case on the server), and what is still missing. Old URLs redirect to their new pages; download URLs are unchanged.
